Stoyka: A Power Rack Revolutionizing Home Fitness

Igor Dydykin's Award-Winning Design Merges Functionality and Aesthetics

Stoyka, a power rack designed by Igor Dydykin, redefines home fitness equipment by combining functionality and aesthetics. This innovative design, which won the Silver A' Sporting Goods, Fitness and Recreation Equipment Design Award in 2022, aims to seamlessly integrate into any living space.

The inspiration for Stoyka came from the increasing importance of physical fitness in our daily routines. The design team aimed to create a piece of equipment that could transform living spaces into fitness studios without compromising the room's aesthetics. The result is a power rack that is perceived as natural and organic, rather than an intrusive piece of machinery.

What sets Stoyka apart from other home gym equipment is its dual functionality. It serves as a power rack for strength training and a storage system for the rack's accessories. The storage system, integrated into the power rack's rear wall, provides enough space to store barbells, weighted plates, support beams, and spotter’s arms. This clever design ensures that the power rack is compact, safe to use, and easy to maintain.

The design process of Stoyka involved multiple stages, including the creation of sketches and three-dimensional models. Feedback from professional fitness trainers and engineers was incorporated to fine-tune the proportions and structure of the power rack. The final product measures 2320 mm in height, 1500 mm in width, and 1100 mm in depth.

Stoyka is designed for a variety of physical exercises, including High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), balance, and flexibility exercises. Its user-friendly design makes it suitable for people of all ages and genders. When not in use, the power rack blends into the living room, thanks to its steel accents and inconspicuous design. The closed storage system also facilitates the cleaning process, further enhancing its appeal for home use.

The design project, which started in February 2019 and concluded in December 2020, was carried out in Tolyatti. The team conducted extensive research, including interviews with fitness center trainers and users, to inform the design of Stoyka. The challenge was to create a power rack that could fit into any modern living space without compromising the interior design. This challenge was successfully overcome, resulting in a power rack that looks like high-end furniture.

Stoyka is a testament to Igor Dydykin's innovative approach to design. This power rack not only meets the functional requirements of a home gym but also adds a touch of elegance to the living space. The design's success is reflected in its recognition at the A' Design Award, where it was awarded Silver in the Sporting Goods, Fitness and Recreation Equipment Design category.
