Modelina Architekci's Be Amphitheatre: A New Symbol for Warsaw

Award-winning Outdoor Event Space Fosters Community Engagement

The Be Amphitheatre is more than just a structure; it is a symbol of community and open dialogue. Modelina Architekci designed it with the belief that every society needs a space to gather, converse, and express themselves. The amphitheatre is intended to host meaningful gatherings and speeches, becoming a new emblem for this part of Mokotow, and a catalyst for change.

The design of the amphitheatre is a blend of classical elements and much-needed green zones. It is inscribed into a circle, topped by a massive, glass-filled concrete roof, supported by a robust ferroconcrete wall. A monumental concrete ring encircles the auditorium and the grass-covered hill by the street, placed at a specific angle to allow a seamless transition of the landscape into the auditorium.

The Be Amphitheatre serves the local community in multiple ways. It provides a venue for events for district residents and offers an intimate space for children and youth. It also caters to the employees of the surrounding office buildings, enabling the organization of yoga classes and open lectures. This multifunctional space has become an integral part of the community, proving that private investments can significantly improve the quality of public spaces.

The project, completed in September 2020, faced several challenges. The most significant was creating an entirely open space in a private area, intended for everyone without restrictions. Despite these challenges, the team succeeded in not only providing an entertainment and event function but also creating a large, open playground for all residents.

The Be Amphitheatre's unique design and community-focused approach have earned it recognition. It was awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
