365 Days Taiwanese Foods: A Unique Calendar Celebrating Taiwanese Cuisine

A Calendar that Showcases the Rich Diversity of Taiwanese Food Culture

Through the fusion of Taiwanese cuisine and a traditional calendar, designers Hsiao Ting Tang and Goyen Chen have created the 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar. This unique calendar not only serves as a practical tool for daily use but also showcases the rich diversity of Taiwanese food culture.

The inspiration for this calendar came from the designers' love for Taiwanese cuisine. They have spent countless hours researching and illustrating various Taiwanese dishes, resulting in a collection of hundreds of illustrations. The idea to create a calendar dedicated to Taiwanese food was born out of the desire to commercialize these illustrations and share the unique flavors of Taiwan with the world.

What sets the 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar apart is its dual functionality. Not only can it be used as a calendar to keep track of dates, but it can also be displayed and collected as a piece of art. The calendar is packaged in a handmade gift box, reminiscent of a traditional Taiwanese bento box. The magnetic clasp design allows for easy opening and closing, making it convenient for both display and storage.

Each day of the calendar features an illustration of a different Taiwanese dish, providing a visual feast for the eyes. The calendar also includes information about Taiwanese festivals, ingredients, and culinary traditions, offering a deeper understanding of Taiwan's unique food culture. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for inspiration for your next meal, this calendar is sure to delight.

The 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar is not only a celebration of Taiwanese cuisine but also a tribute to the country's rich culinary heritage. It aims to promote the spirit of Taiwanese cuisine and traditional culture through its unique design and content. The calendar has garnered recognition for its creativity and ingenuity, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category.

With its soybean printing and handmade gift box, the 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar showcases the designers' attention to detail and commitment to quality. The calendar also comes with a Chinese ceramic spoon as a paperweight, symbolizing the fullness and richness of Taiwanese cuisine.

Measuring 215 mm x 150 mm x 55 mm, the calendar is compact and portable, making it suitable for both personal use and gifting. The calendar's magnetic closure ensures that the pages stay in place, even when displayed upright. Additionally, the calendar features a tear-off design, allowing for easy page changes and ensuring that you always have a fresh illustration to admire.

The 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar project started in September 2019 in Taichung and was completed in September 2020. The designers successfully raised funds for the project through the ZECZEC fundraising platform, demonstrating the public's enthusiasm for Taiwanese cuisine and culture.

Overall, the 365 Days Taiwanese Foods calendar is a unique and visually stunning tribute to Taiwanese cuisine. It combines art, design, and functionality to create a calendar that not only helps you keep track of time but also celebrates the vibrant flavors and traditions of Taiwan.
