Junyun Architecture's "Dawn of Spring": A Poetic Blend of Architecture and Environment

Award-winning design merges modern luxury with environmental integration in Zhengzhou's International Eco-Aquapolis

Junyun Architecture Design Office's "Dawn of Spring" is a unique residential community project in Zhengzhou, China, that seamlessly integrates architecture with the environment. This innovative design, which serves as a demonstration area and future kindergarten, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022.

The "Dawn of Spring" project is located in the promising area of International Eco-Aquapolis, a region with vast future development potential. The design, which started in March 2020 and was completed in October of the same year, is characterized by its "floating" architectural image. The three-story building features a transparent block at the bottom, with the second and third floors subtly lifted above it. This design choice creates a sense of levity and harmony with the surrounding environment.

The entrance of the demonstration area is marked by well-proportioned, interconnected screen walls, creating an extensible space. This asymmetrical and flexible form integrates seamlessly with the main building body. The building and outdoor screen walls enclose a tranquil and twisting water courtyard, offering visitors varying views and a poetic experience.

The first-floor glass curtain wall of the main building body creates transparency and integrity. The large area of perforated aluminum panels used on the facades of the second and third floors produces unified visual effects and hazy, aesthetic exteriors. These design elements blur the boundary between the building and the surrounding environment, while the vertical wrinkles of the perforated panels break the sense of monotony.

The project occupies a gross floor area of 1,989.32sqm, a plot area of 682.18sqm, and a landscape area of 2,908.63sqm. The design team, including Hou Qiang, Jiang Hao, Wu Hanfeng, Lou Xinxin, Zhao Wenqin, Lu Tingwan, Dai Lingzhou, and Zhang Hongyan, faced challenges in site selection for the demonstration area. However, through careful research and analysis, they were able to meet the distinct functional requirements of the project and create different facades for the kindergarten and the demonstration area.

The "Dawn of Spring" project is a testament to Junyun Architecture Design Office's commitment to creating modern, understated luxurious living scenes that integrate architecture and the environment. This innovative design approach has earned them the Silver A' Design Award, a recognition given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
