Dayou Aristo: A Landmark of Modernity and Elegance

Shanghai PTArchitects' Life Hall: A Testament to Innovative Architecture

Dayou Aristo, a project by Shanghai PTArchitects, is a stunning example of modern architecture that combines functionality, elegance, and innovation. Inspired by the sleek design of yachts, the Life Hall stands as a landmark building, showcasing a forward-looking and expressive architectural design.

The Life Hall, located in a land plot with convenient transportation facilities, is positioned to create an ideal residence for middle-class families. Its west side faces a river, providing a stunning natural view. The design of the Life Hall is unique, with its large-area colored glazing glass combined with champagne metal, creating a pure and elegant artistic conception.

Despite the constraints due to land use conditions and the spacing between the east and west sides of the building, Shanghai PTArchitects managed to create a spacious and atmospheric facade image. This was achieved by setting up a grey space outside the east side of the building, with floating panels on the second floor forming an overall floating panel image with the parapet. This design elongates the length of the building along the street, highlighting the horizontal stretching facade effect.

The design process involved a meticulous approach to detail. A basic module of 1.8 meters was determined based on the proportional relationship of the building. Every piece of glass, door, window, and aluminum panel division of the building was controlled according to this size to ensure the internal logical consistency of the building. The glass curtain wall adopts the interval setting of open frame and hidden frame to increase the variation of facade details.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the presentation of the overhanging space outside the east facade. The structure is supported by staggered steel columns, and the height-to-thin ratio of these columns directly affects the presentation of the overhanging space. After repeated communication with structural engineering professionals, a 300mm diameter steel column was determined.

The Life Hall's entrance features the local material "Shandong white pearl" for the second floor, reflecting the local culture and humanistic care while also saving costs. The color glazing glass applied in the glass curtain wall presents a veiled effect, adding to the building's overall elegance and sophistication.

The Dayou Aristo project by Shanghai PTArchitects is a testament to innovative architecture, combining modern design with functionality and elegance. It stands as a landmark building, showcasing a forward-looking and expressive architectural design that is both unique and inspiring. The project was awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022, a testament to its remarkable design and innovation.
