Beijing XLLD Creative Park: A Beacon of Innovation and Design

LDPi Transforms Former Textile Mall into a Creative Oasis

The project, which began in March 2020, saw the transformation of the Sanyou textile shopping mall, once the largest of its kind in Beijing, into a unique space that houses offices, small retail outlets, a theater, roof gardens, and exhibition areas. The design intent was to create a space that felt more like an office lounge with cultural events and exhibitions, rather than a common office space.

One of the unique features of the project is its lighting design. The building, which is North-South oriented with its main facade facing East, has been lit to emphasize the contrast between the white facade and the bronze curtain wall. The white facade is lit with narrow beam 4000K LED wall washer lights, providing a contrast with the bronze curtain wall stretching vertically 5 stories above the main entrance and horizontally on the first floor, lit up with warm white LED lights.

The unique theater within the park is another highlight. Narrow and tall, with a glass roof that allows daylight to enter the space during the day, the theater can be covered during a performance if necessary. The audience is guided to the seating area via hidden 3000K LED strip lights, with the stage lights independently controlled.

The design of the Beijing Xuelian Liangdian Dongsi Creative Park is based on extensive field trials, with different lights brought to the construction site and chosen based on their real performance. This attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique and innovative space has not gone unnoticed. The project was awarded Silver in A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.

Located Southwest of the intersection between Chaoyangmen Inner Street and Dongsi South Street, next to the Dongsi subway lines and only 3.5 km away from the Tiananmen Square, the Beijing Xuelian Liangdian Dongsi Creative Park is a shining example of how innovative design and architecture can transform a space, creating a unique and engaging environment for work, retail, and culture.
