The Wisdom Domain: A Villa Inspired by Nature and Fengshui

A Unique Getaway Combining Nature and Aesthetic

Inspired by the interplay of the five elements, Chu-Shiuan Lin has created a design that initiates the good circle of heaven, humanity, and earth. The layout of the structure and the garden reflects the transformation of circular heaven and square earth. Two symmetrical buildings combine to form a square floor plan, surrounded by circular trails paved with gravel. This creates a natural central axis of circular heaven and square earth, bringing balance and harmony to the space.

The design of The Wisdom Domain incorporates various elements that represent the five elements in fengshui. From the ecological pond at the entrance to the flowers and trees in the garden, every aspect of the villa is carefully designed to create a cohesive and harmonious environment. The large fair-faced concrete walls of the buildings, the slanted roofs that resemble an eagle spreading its wings, and the iron-gray metal grilles on the facade reminiscent of tree shadows all contribute to the overall aesthetic and symbolism of the design.

Inside the villa, each of the sixteen guestrooms is thoughtfully designed to provide a unique and immersive experience. Different lighting, colors, smells, music, and surface materials are used to create distinct atmospheres that cater to the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Guests can indulge in a personalized experience that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit.

The Wisdom Domain project started in June 2019 and was completed in November 2019. Throughout the design process, Chu-Shiuan Lin faced various challenges, including mapping out the reception area and each room to create a simple and serene living environment. However, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a quiet and rustic spiritual domain that combines Western architectural theories with Chinese traditional fengshui.

The Wisdom Domain has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges the villa's incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
