Ryan Wen's Innovative Approach to Industrial Style and Sustainability

The Br Design Center, a brainchild of Ryan Wen and his team, is a creative workshop that draws inspiration from the energy-saving and environmentally friendly organic building. The design exposes numerous pipes such as water, electricity, and firefighting facilities on the facade wall, creating a unique and robust LOFT industrial style. This design approach makes the Br Design Center stand out from conventional office spaces, offering a fresh perspective on workspace design.

What sets the Br Design Center apart is its dedication to environmental sustainability. The design maximizes the use of recycled materials and pays keen attention to the building's future energy consumption. The building's roof houses a solar photovoltaic system spanning over 800 square meters, demonstrating a commitment to renewable energy sources. The building's skin, made of a double-layer grid structure, filters excess light while ensuring natural lighting and ventilation, forming an effective sunshade system and increasing indoor energy efficiency.

The Br Design Center's floor layout is flat and closed, enhancing the overall space's unique stylization. Ryan Wen adopted a complex but ingenious layered pattern to create a rhythmic relationship between the spaces, enhancing the interest of the space and strengthening the efficient "departmental neighborhood system". This approach to space planning makes the Br Design Center a dynamic and exciting workspace.

The project, which started in Chongqing, China in 2016, was completed in 2019. As an internship base for the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, the Br Design Center provides a broad design internship platform for students and a mature exchange and creative space for local home improvement designers in Chongqing. This commitment to nurturing talent further underscores the Br Design Center's innovative approach to workspace design.

The Br Design Center faced the challenge of integrating practical functions and cutting-edge design. The design aimed to inspire creativity and dynamic thinking of employees, promote interaction and communication between employees, and improve work efficiency and passion. For its innovative approach to workspace design and commitment to sustainability, the Br Design Center was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022.
