Garden Home: Redefining Space with Curves

Exploring the Boundaries of Interior Space Design

Taking inspiration from gardens, the Garden Home project by Yi Huile, Liu Zulong, and Xia Yiting challenges the traditional notions of home design. Through the use of curves, this innovative project expands the possibilities of limited space, creating a dynamic and visually captivating living environment.

The Garden Home project aims to break free from the rigid constraints of traditional home design. By incorporating design techniques inspired by the gardens of the Yangtze Delta, the team behind this project seeks to blur the boundaries and separation within the living space. The result is a design that unfolds like a box, continuously expanding and creating a relaxing and dreamlike aesthetic of life.

The unique strength of the Garden Home lies in its ability to create a sense of flow and freedom within a limited space. The carefully placed S-shaped walls serve specific functional needs, guiding residents through each function space and ensuring a smooth living experience. The central migratory line of life allows residents to thread their way around the curved walls, creating a home with no end.

The materials chosen for the Garden Home project further enhance its unique character. Micro cement and solid wood panels are used for the walls, while herringbone wood parquet flooring adds warmth to the living room. Sintered stone is used for the kitchen countertops, and the furniture is made from solid wood panels. The bathroom features tiles, and the closet is constructed with a wood frame and acrylic. The sofa is a combination of metal, sponge, and cloth finish.

Completed in January 2022, the Garden Home project is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of its designers. By integrating curves into the overall design, the space presents a visually captivating sense of flow. The challenge of maintaining order amidst the curves was overcome by meticulously adjusting the ratio of straight and curved lines in each landscape, resulting in a balanced and harmonious atmosphere.

The Garden Home project not only redefines the concept of space but also creates a home with views. Through the clever use of shadow and perspective, the design team guides users' movement, offering unique and poetic views at every step. This design approach adds depth and intrigue to the living experience, transforming the home into a spiritual sanctuary.

The Garden Home project was awarded Bronze in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious recognition celebrates the project's outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. By incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, the Garden Home project contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
