Link: The Multifunctional Desk for Home Offices

An Ergonomic and Aesthetic Solution for Remote Work

The pandemic has changed the ways of working since video conferences and online meetings became an important part of our lives. Link is designed to create an aesthetic, fun, ergonomic, and orderly working space for people by responding to their personal and professional needs when connecting to their work and to the world from the comfort of their home.

Link is a multi-functional desk for home offices, offering ergonomic and aesthetic solutions. Designed by Gizem Yakupoglu, this innovative desk aims to enhance the remote work experience by providing a versatile and organized workspace.

The unique feature of Link lies in its curved shell design, which creates three storage areas beneath its surface. This allows users to keep their personal and professional belongings in an orderly manner, reducing clutter and increasing productivity. The shell widens from the front to the back, providing ample legroom and a spacious working area.

In addition to its storage capabilities, Link offers an adjustable angle for the middle section of the desk. This feature ensures ergonomic comfort by allowing users to customize the height of their laptops, reducing strain on the neck and back during long working hours.

Link also incorporates two adjustable desk lamps that can be used as studio lighting in video conferences or online meetings. This addresses the common problem of improper lighting, which often results in shadows or glares on the face during virtual interactions. With Link, users can easily adjust the lighting to achieve a professional and well-lit appearance.

Furthermore, Link is equipped with integrated Bluetooth speakers, enhancing the audio experience during video conferences, online meetings, or leisure activities such as watching videos or listening to music. The speakers create a more immersive and enjoyable working environment.

The desk is made from high-quality materials, with a coated plywood top surface, blow-molded plastic shell, and solid wood legs (white oak). Its dimensions are 150cm (w) x 65cm (d), with a height of 73cm. The shell design ranges from 2cm in the front to 11cm at its deepest point.

Designed in 2021 in Ankara, Turkey, Link was created in response to the increased demand for home office solutions. Extensive research was conducted to identify the common challenges faced by remote workers, such as improper lighting, cluttered work surfaces, and ergonomic issues. Link addresses these problems by offering a comprehensive and innovative solution.

For its exceptional design and functionality, Link was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade recognizes the practicality, innovation, and professional standards demonstrated by the design.

With Link, Gizem Yakupoglu has successfully created a multifunctional desk that combines aesthetics, ergonomics, and organization. This innovative piece of furniture is a testament to the evolving needs of remote workers and the importance of creating a productive and enjoyable home office environment.
