Moredesign's Award-Winning Armchair: A Testament to Sustainability and Modularity

The Push Collection is the brainchild of Moredesign, a design team comprising Alessandro Morello, Riccardo Bertolla, and Paola Zanovello. The project, which began in October 2019 and concluded in March 2021, was born out of a strong minimalist influence. Moredesign aimed to reduce the armchair design to its bare essence, stripping away unnecessary elements to achieve the perfect aesthetic balance.

What sets the Push Collection apart is its focus on sustainability. The armchair is constructed from two materials: aluminium for the frame, a 100% recyclable material, and technical fabrics for the upholstery, derived from recycled PET (plastic bottles). This approach not only ensures the product's robustness but also aligns with a conscious, environment-friendly lifestyle.

The Push Collection's unique modular aspect allows for the creation of multiple items using the same basic elements. By merely replacing some parts of the seat's frame, four items can be produced: a chair, an armchair, a stool, and a two-seater armchair. This modularity translates into a substantial saving of production resources and a consequent reduction in investment costs.

The design process was not without its challenges. Moredesign had to find a technical solution that merged aesthetics, comfort, and sustainability at the highest level. The result is a visually light armchair that enhances the product's essence while maintaining the necessary sustainability and robustness features.

The Push Collection's design specifications include a width of 540mm, length of 570mm, and height of 750mm, making it a stackable and space-efficient furniture piece.
