Newhengdian Station: A Modern Transportation Hub with Oriental Elegance

Integrating Tradition and Innovation

The overall style of the station building is square and stable, reflecting the traditional architectural design language of Dongyang City. Vertical elements are repeated throughout the design, creating a concise and regular spatial image. The use of bucket arch structures and wood carving skills adds a touch of historical heritage, shaping the station as a new living room for the city.

Spanning across 45,000 square meters, the Newhengdian Station stands as a testament to the perfect combination of composite metal and wood carving patterns. This fusion of materials not only enhances the visual appeal but also showcases the designer's dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The station's interior design is equally impressive. The waiting hall, with its warm wood tones and traditional Chinese cultural elements, reflects the integrity and regionality of the building. Passengers are greeted with a sense of comfort and familiarity, setting the tone for their journey.

One of the standout features of the Newhengdian Station is its commercial space. The facade of the stores adopts a whole glass design, providing a flexible and intuitive platform for merchants to showcase their products. This innovative approach to commercial display enhances the overall experience for both passengers and visitors.

Throughout the design process, the team faced various challenges. However, they overcame these obstacles by incorporating composite metal lines and wood carving patterns into the ceiling, creating an infinite sense of extension and maximizing visual guidance within the space.

The Newhengdian Station project began in August 2020 and is set to be completed in August 2022, all within the city of Dongyang. The designer's commitment to creating a modern transportation space that seamlessly integrates with the regional culture is evident in every aspect of the design.

Recognized for its excellence, the Newhengdian Station was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the station's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life.
