Miorita: A Dynamic Residential Design

A Contrast of Form and Material

Miorita is a residential project that stands out with its unique design and integration into the urban landscape. Designed by Alexandru Zingaliuc and Dragomir Maistru, this three-storey building combines elegance and daring, creating a dynamic architectural masterpiece.

The inspiration for Miorita came from the lot itself, which has a skewed polygonal shape. This led to the concept of a building that appears as a stack of boxes, rotating and stretching to catch the best angles. The sharp angles and cantilevered terraces give the building a dynamic look, contrasting with the monotonous urban surroundings.

One of the standout features of Miorita is its facade. The building is clad in bright, warm timber, creating a striking contrast with the dark ceramo-granite tiles. This combination of materials adds depth and visual interest to the design, making it a true standout in the neighborhood.

Miorita is not just visually stunning, but also functional. The building houses three apartment units on its two residential levels, with a commercial ground level that can be accessed directly from the street. The placement of the neighboring building influenced the design decision to cover the windows overlooking the inner courtyard with timber shutters, ensuring privacy for the residents.

Constructed with a concrete monolithic structure and brick outer walls, Miorita also incorporates additional steel structures to support the ventilated facade systems. This combination of materials and construction techniques ensures the building's stability and longevity.

With a lot area of 609 sqm and a total residential area of 550 sqm, Miorita offers spacious living spaces for its residents. The underground parking can accommodate up to six cars, providing convenience and security.

The Miorita project began in November 2021 in Chisinau and is currently in the construction phase. The design team, led by Alexandru Zingaliuc and Dragomir Maistru, overcame various challenges to create a design that elevates the standards of living both functionally and aesthetically.

Miorita has already gained recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its unique form, contrasting materials, and innovative design, Miorita is set to become a landmark in Chisinau's architectural landscape. It showcases the power of design to create spaces that are not only functional but also visually captivating and inspiring.
