Eth: A Sustainable Country Villa Integrating Nature and Tradition

Embracing Sustainability and Harmony with Nature

Eth House, designed by Alexandru Zingaliuc, is a unique concept for a single-family villa that prioritizes site integration and sustainability. Inspired by the ancient method of building walls from rammed earth, this modern interpretation showcases the beauty and functionality of this sustainable material. Situated in Vadul lui Voda village, near Chisinau, Moldova, Eth House harmoniously blends with its surroundings, creating a serene and eco-friendly living space.

The main source of inspiration for Eth House was the ancient traditional method of building walls from rammed earth. This sustainable building technique has minimal environmental impact and has been revived in modern architecture. The designer also conducted a thorough analysis of the site's position and characteristics, ensuring that the future home would complement the landscape both spatially and aesthetically.

Eth House stands out with its unique properties and strengths. The villa seamlessly integrates into the natural environment, rather than competing with it. The choice of natural materials, such as rammed earth, wood, metal, and glass, further enhances the unity between the house and nature. The rammed earth walls not only provide structural support but also offer excellent insulation, keeping the interior warm during winter. Additionally, rammed earth has low embodied energy and is a sustainable choice, minimizing material wastage.

The design of Eth House revolves around the concept of site integration and sustainability. The villa features three bedrooms, including a master bedroom with separate access, wardrobe, and bathroom. The open-plan living room, dining area, and kitchen create a spacious and inviting atmosphere. Two additional bedrooms, one for guests and one for children, complete the functional layout of the house. The separate areas can be accessed through a gallery, ensuring privacy and flexibility.

From a technical perspective, Eth House showcases the innovative use of rammed earth as the main building material. The load-bearing characteristics and aesthetic qualities of rammed earth make it an ideal choice for this project. Wood, metal, and glass elements complement the red walls, enhancing the overall appearance without overshadowing the main material.

Eth House is not only a testament to sustainable design but also a winner of the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This recognition highlights the project's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life. Eth House truly embodies the principles of art, science, design, and technology, making it a remarkable addition to the world of architecture.

Experience the beauty of Eth House, where sustainability and nature converge, creating a harmonious and tranquil living space.
