The apartment design by Pejman Tayebi draws inspiration from the rural architecture of Iran's Gilan province. The project aims to honor and preserve the local architectural heritage while providing unique and functional residential units.
One of the key features of the design is the use of continuous elements and the horizontal and vertical rhythm found in traditional rural houses. The facade of the apartment complex reflects the geometric characteristics of these houses, creating a harmonious and visually appealing structure.
The design also prioritizes the integration of green spaces and the preservation of old trees. The client's demand for various typologies of residential units is met while ensuring that the existing trees are not compromised. The balconies of the apartments are strategically positioned to provide privacy and a connection with nature, as they are not overlooked by neighboring buildings.
The apartment complex utilizes the "Zegali" rural construction system found in Gilan, which combines natural stone, wood, and aluminum panels. This combination of materials not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and sustainability.
With a site area of 438 sqm and a built area of 1618 sqm spread across six floors, the apartment complex offers a range of residential units to cater to different needs. The design takes into consideration the need for natural ventilation, with various openings in enclosed rooms to facilitate airflow based on the dominant north-south wind flow.
Pejman Tayebi's apartment design in Gilan, Iran, successfully combines the charm of rural architecture with modern functionality. It showcases the importance of preserving local architectural heritage while meeting the demands of urban living.
This design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2017. It is recognized for its creative and ingenious approach, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to improve the quality of life.
