Introducing Mistral: Inspired by the Mediterranean Wind

Mistral, designed by Mercurio Design Lab, is a residential villa that stands out with its unique form and integration of structure and design. The street elevation combines timber and concrete, creating a façade with varying scale windows that generate a strong rhythmic quality. The forward-thrusting angularity of the building leads the eye towards the water, creating a sense of anticipation and intrigue.

What sets Mistral apart is its four-level layout, including a large entertainment room in the basement. The entry level features dining, a dry kitchen, and a living area, while the second level consists of bedrooms and a roof terrace overlooking the canal. The carefully orchestrated sequence of arrival heightens expectation and ensures maximum drama with the final reveal of the view. Floating concrete slabs form a footbridge linking the porte cochère across a pond with the entry vestibule, creating a sense of suspension and anticipation.

Villa Mistral exemplifies Mercurio Design Lab's commitment to pushing the envelope both formally and structurally. The integration of building design, interior architecture, decoration, furnishings, and artworks showcases a complete solution that harmonizes with the client's preoccupation with feng shui. The design team successfully overcame challenges such as restrictive guidelines and the desire for optimal use of natural materials and sustainable strategies.
