Holo Penetration: A Renovation Project for the "holo" Brand

Creating a Chic Coffee Shop Experience

The renovation project of the 1st floor of an old street house store for the "holo" brand is taking place. This brand is renowned for its natural, organic, and environmentally friendly line of cosmetics, skin care products, and cups. With the increasing competition in the beauty and personal care market, the decision was made to move away from the conventional brand counter and opt for a chic coffee shop instead, where customers can buy products and take advantage of a photo-shooting corner.

The "holo Penetration" project, designed by Yang Hsiang-Yu, is a unique renovation of a store in Taipei City, Taiwan. The aim was to create a complex fashionable coffee shop that not only sells products but also provides a space for customers to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. The design inspiration for this project came from the pure white base reminiscent of the complex of the newborn and the minimalist lines that give a cool sense of technology.

The entrance to the shop is strategically designed to create a semi-outdoor corner for photo shooting and check-ins. The front facade of the shop is slightly elevated, which deepens the visual experience for visitors. The entrance, located to the right side, requires taking a turn before entering through the front door, making it an interesting and unique traffic flow design. The laser-etched letters of the brand name serve as a trendy background for photo opportunities.

Inside the shop, the design features several elevations with a 3-dimensional design covered in silver stainless steel finish, giving a modern and sleek look. The wall facades and floor are renovated using environmentally friendly cements, which not only adds a bright pop of color but also creates a spatial magnification effect.

The dining area, located on one side of the shop, is reminiscent of geometrically dimensional battements. The benches are covered in silver stainless steel, and the cubic-shaped white matte acrylic tables add a touch of elegance. Visitors can take a break and enjoy coffee and light meals in this trendy and stylish space. The large black letters of the brand name attached to the wall add to the overall sense of trendiness.

The cashier counter also serves as the coffee-making area, with the counter volume covered in stainless steel. To ensure smooth operations, the water pipes are extended from the water supply source at the back, and a linear diffuser is installed on top. This innovative design allows for efficient use of space and seamless workflow.

The "holo Penetration" project successfully combines the elements of a coffee shop and a retail store, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere for customers. The use of environmentally friendly materials and the attention to detail in the design make this project a standout in the industry. Completed with a friendly budget, this renovation project offers great value for money and has become an iconic space that enhances the brand image of "holo".

Yang Hsiang-Yu's "holo Penetration" project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The project's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world and provide fulfillment and positive feelings to its visitors.
