Hotel Home: A Luxurious Residence Inspired by Hotel Style

A Low-key and Elegant Space Designed by Pei Qi Guo

The 290 square meters new residence in Kaohsiung is a new home for a couple and their two sons. The husband and wife, who often travel and stay in various hotels, want to feel as if they are in a hotel at home. Therefore, the designer re-plans the layout to create a living room and study space suitable for parents and children, and outlines a steady and luxurious "hotel style" space with stable earth color and wallpaper, stretch cloth, iron pieces, and titanium plating metal.

The Hotel Home residence, designed by Pei Qi Guo, is a unique and elegant space that brings the luxury and comfort of a hotel into a private residence. The owner's love for the elegance and luxury of hotel spaces is reflected in the design, while also considering the ease of maintenance of the decoration materials.

To express a low-key and elegant style without the use of marble, the designer opted for dark brown glass and wood skin to create a steady atmosphere. The main materials used in the design include stretch cloth and titanium plating metal, which add a touch of grace to the space.

The realization of the design involved the use of wallpaper, iron pieces, titanium plated metal, Bolon carpet, and other elements to create a restrained grand, elegant, and comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of a hotel. The ceiling design plays a crucial role in the overall aesthetic, with arc-shaped ceilings lifting the height and minimizing the presence of beams in the dining area. The skillful use of the height difference in the ceiling also allows for the seamless integration of a hidden suspended air conditioner.

The Hotel Home residence spans 290 square meters and is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The design process began in March 2021 and was completed in February 2022. The designer faced challenges in decorating the abrupt beam in the living room and dining area, which was overcome by lifting the ceiling height and creating an exquisite arc ceiling outline to complement the overall spatial tone.

The interaction of the design is carefully considered, especially for the two children of the owners. The game room features an open commodity shelf with arched and pointy geometrical models, adding a touch of childlike interest to the space. The designer also incorporated a detachable arched and peaked model laminate, which can be removed as the children grow older, transforming the shelf into a general storage space.

The Hotel Home residence is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and the ability to meet the owner's needs. From the embedded wine cabinet beside the table to the thoughtful layout for parents and children, every aspect of the design contributes to a harmonious and elegant living environment.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
