Merchants Yonglan Bay: An Artistic Fusion of Nature and Architecture

Designer Kelly Lin's Award-Winning Sales Center Design Inspired by the Natural World

Located in the Qinhan New City of Xixian New Area, Xi An, China, Merchants Yonglan Bay stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and architecture. Drawing inspiration from the tiny creatures of the natural world, Lin transformed the interior into a forest space under the ecological vision. The result is a space where visitors can roam and immerse themselves in an artistic natural scenery, evoking a unique perception of lifestyle.

What sets this design apart is the designer's refusal to follow empty aesthetics. Instead, Lin has incorporated the ever-changing beauty of nature into the space, using elements such as golden crystals, rough rocks, lush forests, and active creatures. This gives visitors the experience of strolling in a forest, a space full of interest and vitality.

To realize this vision, Lin created a forest space using green hard installations, crystal lights, and metallic wires on the ceiling. An ecological laboratory was built in the water bar, featuring plant installations that reveal a thriving natural life. Glass bottles portray the formal experiments of avant-garde art. The use of simple clay porcelain vases, natural red clay rocks, fresh flowers, and green plants further express the natural world, creating a cozy and pleasant environment.

The project, which covers an area of 1000 square meters, is located near the Ecological Landscape Belt of the Weihe River, the Mother River of Xi’an. This location boasts the One River and Six Gardens natural cultural tourism facilities ecologically, along with full services in the economic, medical, and educational sectors.

One of the main challenges faced by the designer was to emphasize the fusion of nature and art, environment and experience. This was achieved through the echoing of color details, the expression of house materials, and the rich texture of hard furnishings organized in a delicate layout. In this space, the beauty of nature and art merges together while echoing with humanistic spirit. The intersection of aesthetics and experience evokes people's ideas of lifestyle and their aspirations for a better life.

Merchants Yonglan Bay is a testament to Kelly Lin's innovative approach to design, blending nature and art to create a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. It's a design that truly deserves its Silver A' Design Award, a recognition given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
