Double Bass 23: A Sophisticated Modern Residence

A harmonious blend of art and architecture

The Double Bass 23 residence, designed by Marx Chuang, is a sophisticated modern residence that combines art, architecture, and design to create a harmonious living space for a family of four. Inspired by the client's artistic background and the architectural context, this residence stands out with its unique selection of materials and logical layout.

The Double Bass 23 residence is a testament to the design team's ability to observe and respond to their clients' needs. The thoughtful and delicate couple, with their calm demeanor and artistic sensibilities, served as the inspiration for this project. The design team aimed to create a space that exudes relaxation and positive energy, much like the soothing tone of a cello.

One of the key features of this residence is the selection of building materials. The design team focused on restoring the nature of raw materials and chose four elements - stone, steel, wood, and leather - to shape the space. The stone wall forms the base of the public area, while steel and oak add intricate details. Leather accents further enhance the space, creating a visually concentrated and tonally harmonious environment. Neutral colors are used throughout the room, further enhancing the overall aesthetic.

The logical layout of the residence takes into account factors such as wind direction, sunlight, thermal environment, and the elongated shape of the apartment. This ensures that each area of the residence is well-planned and optimized for comfort and functionality. The open public area serves as the core of the residence, with the master bedroom and second bedroom strategically located on either side to maintain privacy and allow each family member to have their own space.

The Double Bass 23 residence is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The building materials, including travertine, oak, steel plate, and leather, are carefully chosen to express the true essence of the space. The use of metal steel rods as the load-bearing structure for stone installation ensures the stability and durability of the residence, especially considering its location on the 23rd floor of a building with an SRC seismic structure.

Completed in July 2021 in Taiwan, the Double Bass 23 residence is a result of extensive research and creative problem-solving. The design team considered the climate of Taiwan, as well as external factors such as monsoons, high temperature, and high humidity, to create a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment. The comprehensive planning and attention to detail make this residence a truly exceptional place to live.

The Double Bass 23 residence has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, and the contribution to quality of life improvements.

The Double Bass 23 residence is a testament to the power of design to create a harmonious living space that reflects the unique personality and needs of its occupants. With its sophisticated blend of art, architecture, and design, this residence stands as a true masterpiece.
