Sunao is located in western Taipei, a district where things go slow. To denote a renewed sense of timelessness, its designers draw on an intense sense of local life and history to make the place take on a quality of unadorned simplicity. The lush canopy of trees in Jilin Elementary School across the street adds to the site some greenness that is rare in urban life.
The design of the concave balcony, complete with the visual penetration of the windows on three sides, makes family members in their respective rooms feel a connection with one another. The visual obstruction of translucent glass railings on the balcony serves to make going outdoors all the more inviting.

Apart from meeting the technical requirements of Gold green building certification, Sunao’s designers attach more importance to how to enrich different stages of life through sustainable methods. Multilayer hollow exterior walls not only reduce the conduction of heat but, together with such methods as exposed pipes, surface conduit wiring and lowered flooring, make it easy to adjust and update mechanical and electrical systems without damaging the structure of the building, thus making for better durability.
