Located at the junction of the Meatpacking, West Village, and Chelsea districts, the Municipal Art Society Headquarters is a civilian mixed-use building that has been inspired by the rich local history and culture. These districts have seen significant changes over the past century, including World War II, the post-industrial era, the hippie culture, and urban renewal in the 21st century. This unique context has shaped the design of the building, creating a unique style that aligns with the urban, historic, industrial, and artistic atmosphere of its surroundings.

The Municipal Art Society is a nonprofit, membership-based organization that encourages thoughtful planning and urban design across New York City to preserve history, culture, and neighborhoods.
