Hermosa 21: A Nature-Inspired Terrace Villa by Ken Thong

Blurring the Lines Between Nature and Urban Lifestyle

Inspired by the verdant environment and a desire for a relaxing lifestyle, Ken Thong, the renowned designer, has created Hermosa 21, a terrace villa that seamlessly blends nature and urban living. With a focus on backyard gardens and natural light, this design captures the soothing vibe of its surroundings and translates it into stunning interior spaces. Let's explore the unique features and design elements that make Hermosa 21 a true masterpiece.

To find a balance between nature and urban lifestyle, Hermosa 21 boasts a modern neutral-hued palette with invigorating pops of colors and shapes. Paintings and accent furnishings add visual interest, while different textures and materials create captivating layers. The result is a rejuvenating space that allows inhabitants to enjoy the beauty of their surroundings in style and comfort.

One of the key strengths of Hermosa 21 is its emphasis on natural light and uninterrupted airflow. The open-layout interior enhances interaction and communication among family members, fostering a sense of togetherness. The design also incorporates contemporary features that lighten up the overall appearance and highlight the spaciousness of the interior architecture.

When it comes to the realization of the design, natural building materials were carefully chosen to create a calming atmosphere. The living area, for example, features a double-volume height with a cement-like plastered wall that adds a touch of industrial chic. Customized lighting sculptures, including small round wall lights, provide a warm ambiance and serve as functional art pieces. The wet kitchen floor is adorned with pebble wash finishes, matching the overall concept and ensuring easy maintenance.

Hermosa 21 is a 2,741 square feet terrace villa with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The reconfigured layout on the ground floor allows for a greater flow and visual connectivity between the living, dining, dry and wet kitchen, and garden. Sliding glass doors separate the wet kitchen, ensuring easy maintenance for the family who loves to cook. The addition of a new window expands the small wet kitchen space and brings in natural light and views of the garden landscape. The design also includes ample storage and a service bathroom for convenience.

The Hermosa 21 project started in July 2021 in the quaint district of Shah Alam in Selangor, Malaysia, and was completed in January 2022. Throughout the design process, the team focused on the balance between practicality and aesthetics, especially in the open-layout concept. The use of different materials and curvy shapes creates interesting layers and lifts the mood, allowing inhabitants to experience the space in a unique way.

Hermosa 21 has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.

With its clean and lively palette, Hermosa 21 embodies its owners' relaxing lifestyle. The soft and natural design blurs the lines between the interior and exterior, creating a harmonious connection with the surrounding nature. Hermosa 21 is a testament to Ken Thong's talent and his ability to create spaces that inspire and delight.
