Handcrafted Wooden Lamp Wins Silver A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award

Magali Suchowolski's "Wood" is a decorative and spot lighting table lamp, designed with the clear intention of being different from what was seen then in the lighting market. The lamp is made entirely of solid wood, turned by hand, a detail that makes it unique. The use of wood, a material that transmits warmth and thanks to its nobility, gives the lamp a distinguished quality and presentation.

The design of the "Wood" lamp was inspired by the classic designs of the 60s. The lamp stands out for breaking with the paradigm, with the cable outlet at the top and its design is exclusive, with jute mesh and golden jute threads. The lamp uses LED spotlights that generate less electricity consumption and care for the environment due to its long useful life.

The "Wood" lamp is made with a manual wood turning process, in three parts, to avoid waste. Zoita wood was chosen for its excellent weight and quality ratio. The lamp comes in two sizes, with the Mini Wood having a diameter of 150mm and a total height of 150mm, and the Wood having a diameter of 280mm and a total height of 230mm.

The design of the "Wood" lamp was made in 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and it took almost a year to be able to do it. The lamp started selling in 2018. The current design is exactly as projected, with various types of wood tried until deciding which was the correct one. The product has a very complex shape to turn and that is why it took a long time to develop until it reached the final product.

The "Wood" lamp was awarded Silver in A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2023. The award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
