Yard Studio's Award-Winning Design Revolutionizes City Life

Amidst the fast-paced rhythm of city life, the City Lounge Station emerges as a tranquil haven. Conceived by the innovative minds at Yard Studio, this project stands at the crossroads of convenience and modern design. Located near Tianyi Square subway station, the City Lounge Station is not just a structure but a cultural symbol of urban care, offering respite and essential services to citizens on the go.

The design's unique properties lie in its modular nature. The box-modeled stations can be replicated and placed throughout any cityscape. Each component is meticulously prefabricated, allowing for swift on-site assembly. This efficient production method not only saves time but also promises a uniform comfort experience across various urban locations.

Yard Studio's creation is a testament to the power of design in enhancing everyday life. With dimensions of 3.6m x 7.6m x 3.3m, the City Lounge Station is a compact yet comprehensive facility. It offers a multitude of amenities, including seating for short breaks, water dispensers, phone charging stations, and access to first-aid equipment, all within a 28 square meter area.

The design team, led by Chief Designer Yang Bingqing, along with Zhang Yiling, Zhang Jialiang, Wang Zheqi, and interns Chen Kelun and Liu Fei, faced the challenge of integrating a peaceful retreat amidst the vibrant chaos of commercial streets. Their solution was a low-key, special box that blends seamlessly into the urban fabric while standing out as a beacon of warmth and care.

Yard Studio's City Lounge Station is a bold step towards redefining the urban landscape. It serves as an architectural embodiment of the city's compassion, offering a space where anyone can find solace. The project, initiated in February 2022 and completed by December, showcases how thoughtful design can provide practical solutions to the dynamic challenges of city living.

With its innovative approach and social impact, the City Lounge Station has garnered acclaim, securing the Golden A' Design Award. This accolade highlights Yard Studio's commitment to advancing art, science, design, and technology through creations that significantly enhance the human experience in urban environments.
