Chuanjiang Culture Embodied in Modern Exhibition Space

Tianxia Chuanjiang: Where Tradition Meets Contemporary Design

Yutao Song and Ying Chen have masterfully crafted the Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center, drawing inspiration from the Chuanjiang culture that thrives in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. This center is not just a space but a narrative of the region's history, encapsulated within the walls of a modern oriental aesthetic. The designers aimed to create a commercial space that is not only functional but also a humanistic experience, blending the traditional with the modern, and the oriental with the western.

What sets the Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center apart is its deep-rooted connection to Luzhou's identity as the 'Pearl of the Wine City' and its strategic location at the confluence of the Chuanjiang culture. The design team has ingeniously incorporated elements reminiscent of childhood memories, local architecture, and traditional boats, transforming them into a source of spatial inspiration that resonates with the city's spirit.

The realization of this project involved meticulous planning and execution, with an emphasis on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The design palette features a harmonious blend of black, white, warm gray, and wood tones, punctuated by strategic uses of red and green to add depth and vibrancy. Metal accents are introduced to enhance the space's character and texture, ensuring a sophisticated and comfortable environment.

Spanning nearly 3216 square meters, the exhibition center encompasses a variety of spaces, including a sand table model display area, a Chuanjiang culture exhibition hall, and a negotiation reception area. The design team has skillfully used materials such as jute rope, cement Lanson panels, wood grain Lanson panels, and light oak finishes to create a cohesive and immersive experience that doubles as an art appreciation journey.

Yutao Song and Ying Chen's approach to the Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center is holistic, considering the integration of architecture, interior, and landscape. This approach fosters a seamless connection between these elements, emphasizing the relationship between humans, nature, and materials. The design invites visitors to experience the coexistence of beauty and spirit, offering a profound reflection on the bond between people and space.

The Tianxia Chuanjiang Exhibition Center, a project that began in March 2019 and concluded in March 2023, has been recognized for its excellence with a Golden A' Design Award in 2024. This accolade highlights the center's status as a trendsetting creation that not only advances design and technology but also significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics and embodiment of extraordinary excellence.
