At the heart of Ripple lies the concept of cohesion, a design that not only accommodates an extended family but also promotes their unity. The living room serves as the epicenter from which the design spreads out in concentric circles, much like ripples in water, allowing each family member to thrive within the shared space. This approach to design is not just about aesthetics; it's about creating a home that supports the dynamics of family life.
What sets Ripple apart is its use of ripple-like curves that permeate the interior. These curves are meticulously crafted to create a visual impact, echoing the diffusion of ripples in water. The design team's masterful use of marble cutting and angled cabinetry exemplifies a commitment to creating a space that is both functional and artistically resonant. This unique atmosphere is exclusive to the home, a signature of Chun-Wei Wang's design philosophy.
The choice of materials in Ripple is deliberate, with a focus on natural elements that evoke a sense of comfort and tranquility. The extensive use of solid wood, including a custom-made four-meter-long table, underscores the importance of family gatherings and shared meals. These materials are not just building blocks of the home; they are the backdrop to the family's daily life, chosen to enhance their experience of the space.
Spanning 545.4 square meters over five floors, the Ripple residence is a testament to thoughtful space planning. The design team's emphasis on comfort is evident in the master bedroom, which includes a study and a living area, separated by a sliding door that allows for both privacy and connection. The transparency of the door's lower half is a subtle yet impactful design choice, fostering an airy feel while maintaining distinct zones within the home.
The Ripple project is not just about the physical space; it's about how the space is experienced. The open plan of the social area encourages interaction and communal living, while also allowing for independence. The design team's ongoing dialogue with the client ensured that the space not only met but exceeded their expectations, creating a home that is truly reflective of the family's needs and desires.
Completed in September 2021 in Taiwan, Ripple has garnered acclaim, securing the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2024. This accolade recognizes the project's integration of best practices and innovative design, contributing to the enrichment of the family's life and, by extension, to a better world. Ripple is not just a residence; it's a ripple effect of design excellence, resonating through the industry and setting a new standard for family-centric living spaces.
