The Lab LZ by GT, designed by Gisele Taranto Arquitetura, is a unique sensory showroom that aims to challenge visitors and encourage them to think about solutions and ideas in various areas that impact our lives. The design concept is inspired by the idea of layers, with the retaining walls and ceiling intentionally left unfinished to showcase the different thoughts and possibilities that exist.
The showroom is divided into three distinct areas. The first area serves as a consulting space, resembling a library, where visitors can explore and gather information. The second area is a living/lounge space featuring a large asymmetrical sofa, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The third area is a meeting/working space, designed to facilitate discussions and collaboration.
One of the standout features of the Lab is the suspended glass floor, which adds a sense of intrigue and visual interest. Mirror shards are placed in the empty space between the existing subfloor and finished floor, symbolizing depth and reflection. This design element reinforces the concept of the Lab, inviting visitors to delve deeper into their thoughts and ideas.
The furniture and objects used in the Lab are carefully selected from well-known national and international designers, creating a synergy between high-end technology, sustainable lighting, and artistic pieces. The aim is to merge different channels together and provide a holistic experience for visitors.
The Lab LZ by GT was exhibited in Rio de Janeiro from September to October 2015 and received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 for its outstanding and creative design. It exemplifies the incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
Overall, the Lab LZ by GT is a thought-provoking and innovative space that challenges visitors to think beyond their comfort zones and explore new ideas. It serves as a platform for discussions and collaborations, offering a unique sensory experience that merges art, design, and technology.
