Warm Day: A Serene Residential Oasis by Chih Hsien Chen

Chih Hsien Chen's Award-Winning Design Merges Hotel Elegance with Home Comfort

In the bustling city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a serene residential space emerges, reflecting the sophistication of a luxury hotel with the warmth of a private home. Chih Hsien Chen's "Warm Day" stands as a testament to modern elegance, winning the Iron A' Design Award for its innovative approach to interior design.

At the heart of "Warm Day" lies the designer's vision to infuse the tranquility and comfort of a high-end hotel into a residential setting. The muted color scheme, with its understated hues, lays the foundation for a serene and textured environment. The open, transparent layout amplifies the sense of space, offering homeowners an unobstructed view of their dream dwelling. The strategic use of black and grey shades in the public areas creates a layered gradient effect, seamlessly connecting the TV wall, study, and dining room, while wood accents introduce a touch of warmth to balance the cool tones.

Distinctive in its four-story structure, "Warm Day" showcases a harmonious blend of stone and wood, punctuated by clean lines that capture the elegance of simplicity. Light plays a pivotal role, casting an enchanting glow that accentuates the beauty of the materials. The thoughtful floor plan delineates the function of each level, ensuring a clear demarcation between the communal and private zones, thus fostering a harmonious living experience for the occupants.

Chih Hsien Chen's mastery is evident in the selection of materials such as natural solid wood veneer, natural marble, and special glass, which come together to form a cohesive and luxurious interior landscape. The design spans approximately 446 square meters, encompassing a variety of spaces including a garage, entry hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, storeroom, and bedrooms, each tailored to meet the homeowners' needs with precision and elegance.

The interaction with "Warm Day" is as intuitive as it is delightful. Each floor is designed with purpose: the first floor welcomes with a warm entry hall and a cozy bar area devoid of electronic distractions, inviting relaxation. The second floor, dedicated to social interaction, features an extended traffic flow that reveals the path of light, ensuring the space feels open and inviting. The third and fourth floors offer sanctuary in the form of private bedrooms, each designed to be a personal retreat.

Chih Hsien Chen's design journey with "Warm Day" was not without challenges. In the master bedroom, the integration of storage cabinets with display shelves creates a dynamic visual vista without overwhelming the space. The secondary bedroom's earthy tones and playful arches foster a soothing ambiance, perfect for restful slumber. These design decisions reflect a deep understanding of spatial harmony and the impact of light and shadow.

Concluding the design narrative, "Warm Day" stands as a beacon of modern residential design, where the calm of a luxury hotel meets the intimacy of a personal abode. The project's completion in 2023 marks a new chapter in the evolution of interior spaces, one that is celebrated with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award for its contribution to the industry and the enhancement of lifestyle through design excellence.
