Yi Chun Chung's "C'est La Vie" residential house stands as a testament to innovative spatial design, where children's play areas and adult living spaces coexist in harmony. The reconfiguration of the public area and the transformation of the master bedroom into a multi-functional space with distinct zones for dressing and bathing exemplify the designer's commitment to maximizing utility without sacrificing style.
The design's hallmark is its use of curved structures, which not only address FengShui concerns but also create an inviting entrance with a floral scene that captivates the senses. The strategic placement of a full circle of light tape on the living room ceiling negates the visual impact of structural beams, enhancing the feeling of openness as one enters the home.
Yi Chun Chung's approach to the "C'est La Vie" project involved the use of metal-colored double arc arches at the entry and kitchen entrance, infusing the space with life. The ceiling's circular and rectangular shapes, along with a palette of rich colors, foster a sense of continuity. The living, dining, and kitchen areas are merged seamlessly, promoting interaction among residents. The material selection, including stone bricks, paint, wood, and metal accents, brings a natural vitality to the space, achieving a balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The design's 100 square meter layout is meticulously crafted, featuring engineered hardwood flooring, Italian paint, iron parts, grille, and titanium plating. These elements contribute to the residence's sophisticated atmosphere. The dining area is highlighted by an iron display cabinet that not only serves as a visual centerpiece but also provides a platform for showcasing personal collections.
Yi Chun Chung's design journey involved overcoming the challenge of a public space that was initially too compartmentalized and restricted. By retracting the kitchen area and removing walls, the space was opened up, allowing for a more fluid layout. The design's intelligent use of curved archways and flooring materials delineates the dining and kitchen areas while fostering a sense of connection within the home.
The "C'est La Vie" project, completed in 2023, is a celebration of homecoming, with natural wood and stone textures at the entrance that set a warm and inviting tone. The open design of the public space facilitates a flexible lifestyle, with gray-blue cabinets and a marble TV wall with indirect lighting that adds depth to the design. Ar Her Kuo Photography Studio captures the essence of the space, ensuring that the visual content reflects the design's intellectual property.
Yi Chun Chung's "C'est La Vie" has been recognized with a Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2024, a distinction that celebrates the project's creative ingenuity and contribution to enhancing quality of life. This award is a testament to the designer's ability to integrate art, science, design, and technology into a cohesive and enriching living experience.
