Arup Taipei: A Symphony of Engineering and Design

Office Interior That Embodies Corporate Spirit and Precision

In the heart of Taipei, a new office interior by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan for Arup merges corporate identity with architectural finesse, winning a prestigious Bronze A' Design Award.

The recent transformation of Arup's regional office in Taipei is not merely a renovation but a redefinition of workspace aesthetics. Spearheaded by the innovative duo Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, the office interior is a testament to the company's commitment to design, engineering, and construction excellence. The use of bright orange and red hues, alongside the strategic placement of the company logo, creates an immediate visual impact upon entry, setting the tone for a space that is both vibrant and professional.

Arup Taipei's design stands out for its unique blend of color and material. The brand's colors adorn columns at the entrance, while cement-textured walls echo the robustness of Arup's engineering heritage. The office's lighting design, featuring hanging strip lights, is not only functional but also symbolizes the precision and strength inherent in the company's work. This thoughtful integration of brand identity into the physical space is a hallmark of Nagatomo and Jan's design philosophy.

The office's layout is meticulously planned to accommodate various functional zones within a 283m2 area. From the welcoming reception adorned with a green moss wall to the spacious main working area designed to host over 40 desks, the design ensures a sense of openness and fluidity. The inclusion of multiple meeting rooms, a pantry, and even a breastfeeding room, reflects the company's dedication to employee well-being and work-life balance.

Realized through expert wood carpentry and on-site painting, the office's design elements are not just visually appealing but also practical. The designers faced the challenge of time constraints, as the project spanned from September 2022 to March 2023 in a rented property, necessitating swift yet effective design development and construction management.

Arup Taipei's design is grounded in research that explores the evolution of office spaces. By incorporating branding values into the interior design elements, the project delivers a message of innovation and sustainability. The result is a workspace that not only facilitates efficient operations but also communicates the company's philosophy and culture to both employees and visitors.

The recognition of Arup Taipei with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024 underscores the project's success in creating an office interior that is both functional and expressive. The award celebrates the design's creativity, ingenuity, and contribution to enhancing quality of life, affirming that Arup Taipei is indeed a space where engineering and design harmonize to inspire and empower.
