The Javits Center, known for hosting events that showcase the pinnacle of design and innovation, was the stage for Nargiza Usmanova's latest creation. Usmanova, drawing inspiration from the urban allure of New York City, embarked on a creative journey that began with hand-drawn sketches and evolved into a 3D model. This process culminated in an exhibition booth that not only displayed GVA Lighting's products but also encapsulated the essence of urban illumination.
Usmanova's design stood out for its homage to cityscapes, transforming the booth into a microcosm of a radiant metropolis. The tall white panels, reminiscent of skyscrapers, served as the canvas for GVA's lighting solutions, highlighting the company's impact on real-world environments. This unique property of the design emphasized the transformative power of light in urban settings.
The realization of this concept was achieved through a modular approach, utilizing metal trusses, aluminum structures, and various other materials to construct a booth that was not only visually striking but also a testament to practical engineering. The specifications of the booth, measuring 6100 mm by 6100 mm by 7800 mm, ensured a grand presence within the exhibition space.
Functionality was at the forefront of the booth's design, with GVA Lighting's products, including the award-winning Color-Stream technology and the HL4 Highlighter, taking center stage. The booth's interactive nature allowed the 300+ exhibitors and thousands of attendees to engage with the lighting tools and solutions, fostering an environment of innovation and discovery.
The project, which spanned from March to May 2023, was a collaborative effort between Toronto and New York. It was a result of extensive research into past lighting exhibitions and a deep understanding of the competitive landscape. This research informed the design process, ensuring that the booth not only met but exceeded industry standards and expectations.
Overcoming the challenges of creating a booth that would stand out in a sea of competitors, Usmanova's design leveraged GVA Lighting's technology to create an abstract city skyline that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The synergy of architectural lighting and the urban backdrop of New York City resulted in a design that was more than just a structure—it was an experience.
The design's intellectual property is protected under the copyrights of Nargiza Usmanova, 2023. The "Illuminated Skyline" has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award, a testament to its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that aligns with professional and industrial standards, contributing to a brighter future.
