Revolutionizing Corporate Spaces: Mossaic Atrium Wins Bronze A' Award

Euroline Team's Atrium Design Merges Functionality and Biophilic Beauty

In an era where the line between work and leisure is increasingly blurred, the Euroline Team's latest project, Mossaic, stands out as a testament to innovative design that caters to the multifaceted needs of modern corporate life. This article delves into the design's inspiration, unique properties, and the challenges overcome to create a space that is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing.

The inspiration for Mossaic stemmed from the desire to create an indoor park atmosphere that would counteract the issue of echoing in the room. The Euroline Team's approach was to employ fractalization across every surface, enhancing sound absorption and simultaneously weaving a narrative within the space. The result is an atrium that not only addresses acoustic challenges but also captivates with its storytelling elements.

Mossaic's unique properties lie in its versatility. It functions as a reception area, a product showcase with a presentation platform, fluid workstations, and a relaxation lounge that can transform into a conference space. The design's strength is its seamless fusion of practicality and aesthetic appeal, creating an inviting environment that adapts to various activities.

The realization of Mossaic was a technological feat, utilizing ACAD and 3Dmax Arnold software for design and visualization. The design process included 3D modeling, rendering, and video sequences to offer dynamic views of the proposed space. Virtual Reality previews provided an immersive experience, allowing for a detailed presentation of design options, materials, and color palettes to the client.

Technical specifications of the atrium include a ground floor plan of 169 m2, a balcony area of 23 m2, and a wall height of 7.55 m, peaking at 9.40 m. These dimensions were critical in customizing elements to meet safety standards and requirements for material properties, especially concerning sound absorption.

Upon entering the atrium, visitors are greeted by a park-like ambiance. The longer walls feature wood panels with moss and waterwall accents, while the shorter walls are adorned with various types of preserved moss and bark. The ceiling boasts a combination of light fixtures and sound-absorbing elements, creating a bright and complex environment conducive to a range of activities.

The project, initiated in December 2022 and completed in December 2023 in Bad Munder, Germany, was driven by the challenge of creating a space that could provide a respite from intense work phases. The design encourages interaction among employees by offering a single environment for breaks, informal meetings, conferences, and celebrations.

Overcoming the echoing issue was a significant challenge. The Euroline Team's solution involved a meticulous design strategy that incorporated carpeting, slatted panels, moss, a water wall, and sound-absorbing materials throughout the space. The addition of 200 algorithmically arranged suspended lights not only enhanced the visual appeal but also contributed to acoustic improvement.

The Mossaic atrium is a shining example of how design can transform corporate spaces into multipurpose environments that promote well-being and connection to nature. The project's recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in 2024 underscores its excellence in integrating art, science, design, and technology to improve quality of life and contribute to a better world.
