Reimagining Aristocracy: The Aristocrat of Empire Hotel

The 1,022 square foot suite room is a testament to the creative prowess of the design team, comprising of Four Lau (Creative Director), Sam Sum (Art Director), and Twiggy Yau (Interior Designer). The team has skillfully used black as the sole color, integrating seven different elements including wooden surfaces, velvet wallpaper, crystalline marble, fabric, glass, steel, and floor mats. This unique combination has resulted in a design that the team calls "A Sense of Black Elegance."

What sets this design apart is its departure from traditional hotel room designs. Inspired by the constant demand for new innovations, the designers have created a space that offers not just visual, but also tactile sensations. Every wall in the suite is decorated with materials of different textures, creating a metropolitan atmosphere that is both sophisticated and inviting.

The suite is also equipped with a tailor-made waterbed and a "Rain Forest" shower in the bathroom, enhancing the sensual experience for the body and soul. This design feature further emphasizes the team's commitment to creating a unique and immersive experience for the guests.

The design project, completed in May 2010 in Hong Kong, required extensive research and sourcing of different kinds of dark color materials. The challenge was to match these materials with the high-end aristocratic style that the team was aiming for. The result is a design that is a perfect blend of elegance and innovation, a new interpretation of aristocracy.

The Aristocrat of Empire Hotel is not just a design, but a statement. It represents the aristocratic style and poise of the "Empire," allowing guests to indulge in the extravaganza "in the dark."
