Jiangmen Gemdale Mingyue: A Fusion of Western and Chinese Aesthetics

Yu Chao and Guanghui Zeng's Award-Winning Design for a Sales Center

In the heart of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, a unique architectural marvel stands out. The Jiangmen Gemdale Mingyue, a sales center designed by Yu Chao and Guanghui Zeng, is a harmonious blend of Western architectural aesthetics and traditional Chinese culture. Inspired by the exotic customs of Jiangmen Diaolou, the hometown of overseas Chinese, this design has won the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021.

The design's uniqueness lies in its integration of lines and crystal elements, creating a harmonious and complementary spatial vision. The functional areas within the space are not distinctly separated. Instead, they are scattered in an orderly manner, creating a fluid and seamless transition from one area to another. The main theme of the space, "Bird Paradise," is a nod to the local culture and natural elements, resulting in a modern aesthetic that is both captivating and inviting.

Realizing this design required the use of special materials such as white and crema Pinta stone, castle grey stone, and bronze stainless steel. Covering an area of 600 square meters, the project took approximately three months to complete. The sales center serves as a platform for customers to gain a deeper understanding of the newly constructed buildings and houses, providing a comprehensive view of the construction plan and facilitating communication with sales managers.

The project's location, Jiangmen, is known for its nature and humanities that have evolved over generations. It is recognized as a bird paradise, the hometown of hot springs, and China's famous hometown of overseas Chinese. The Kaiping Diaolou, a local landmark, is also reflected in the design elements. The designers' understanding and appreciation of the local culture are evident in the design, which required extensive research and a deep understanding of the integration of art, nature, and urban humanity.

The design faced several challenges, primarily the need for the designers to have a comprehensive understanding of the local culture. This required a significant investment of time in studying the culture and characteristics of Jiangmen City. However, the result is a design that not only reflects the local culture but also presents a new lifestyle for contemporary China.

In conclusion, the Jiangmen Gemdale Mingyue is a testament to the design prowess of Yu Chao and Guanghui Zeng. It is a remarkable blend of Western and Chinese aesthetics, reflecting the local culture of Jiangmen City while presenting a modern and innovative design. The project's success is a testament to the designers' ability to integrate art, nature, and urban humanity into a cohesive and captivating design.
