Mowraj Seat: A Fusion of Ethnic Egyptian and Modern Gothic Styles

One of the standout features of the Mowraj Seat is the built-in ottomans, cleverly disguised as drawers. These ottomans can be easily opened and closed with the help of Blum's soft-close drawer runners and "Tip on" mechanisms. This innovative design allows for a seamless integration of functionality and aesthetics.

The Mowraj Seat is meticulously crafted using high-quality materials. The body is made of solid white beech wood, which is then painted with a glossy black lacquer. The upholstery is made from luxurious velvet, available in a range of colors. The bolts and ring-pulls are casted from galvanized iron, adding a touch of rustic charm.

Measuring at 1580mm in length, 780mm in width, and with a seating height of 500mm and back height of 1000mm, the Mowraj Seat is designed to provide both comfort and style.

Dalia Sadany, the mastermind behind this design, embarked on a journey of research and experimentation to bring the Mowraj Seat to life. The challenge of creating a furniture piece from an extinct agricultural machinery was no easy feat. Additionally, reintroducing wood hand craftsmanship in a time dominated by mass production required persistence and dedication.

The Mowraj Seat has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2013. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
