Electra: Revolutionizing Faucets with Digital Innovation

E.C.A. Design Team's Electra: A Blend of Aesthetics, Functionality, and Technological Advancement

Electra, a revolutionary faucet design by the E.C.A. Design Team, is transforming the armature sector by integrating digital technology into a traditionally mechanical product. This innovative design, inspired by the natural flow of water, offers a unique, aesthetic, and ergonomic solution for kitchens.

The E.C.A. Design Team drew inspiration from the natural flow of water among stones in prehistoric times. The resulting design, Electra, is a digital sink mixer that provides users with a distinctive experience. The design is a seamless blend of form and function, with the faucet's body serving as its only component. This minimalistic approach gives Electra a sculpture-like visual appeal, turning the faucet into an aesthetic object rather than a mere functional tool.

What sets Electra apart from other faucets is its revolutionary design that does away with a separate handle. The faucet's elegance and smart appearance are complemented by its practicality. The pull-down digital sink mixer offers users freedom of movement in the kitchen, along with the option of two different flow functions. The front area of Electra features an electronic pad that provides access to all functions, controllable with just the tip of a finger.

The realization of Electra's design involved innovative techniques and technologies. The use of an electronic hand shower reduced the number of components compared to standard armatures, allowing for production flexibility. To prevent the display cables from coming into contact with water, a unique coring technique was used, making the casting process more comfortable. The faucet's body process is a leading method in terms of using the design team's resources differently and more productively.

Electra's design was driven by the rising trend of digitalization across all consumer groups. The E.C.A. Design Team aimed to develop a digital faucet for the new generation, becoming a pioneer in both the domestic and foreign markets. The design process involved data transfers between the solution partner and the design team, shaping the final product. The results of studies with a focus group helped to form the final product.

The design of Electra faced several challenges, including the need to familiarize users with new technology instead of introducing a sudden change. The team used two different touch panels in the design and sent prototypes to both customers and marketing experts. Feedback helped shape the most aesthetic and ergonomic design for final production. The project started in November 2011 in Turkey & Switzerland, and the product samples were exhibited in Unicera in 2012, winning the Design Turkey 2012 Good Design Award.

Electra's innovative design and technological advancement have been recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Building Materials and Construction Components Design Award in 2013. This award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. Electra, with its unique design and technological solution, is indeed contributing to making the world a better place.
