Ciel Home Bar: A Modern Twist on the Classic Home Bar

A Sophisticated and Functional Design by Bahram Salour

The Ciel Home Bar, designed by Bahram Salour, is a unique and innovative take on the traditional home bar. Inspired by the bachelor pads of the 60s and the sleek design of classic cars, this bar combines functionality with style, providing a hidden storage solution for liquor bottles and a range of other bar accessories.

The concept for the Ciel Home Bar was born out of a desire to eliminate visual clutter and the need for frequent dusting. Bahram Salour's wife challenged him to design a home bar that would hide the liquor bottles, beverage glasses, and other bar essentials. Drawing inspiration from the spy movies of the 60s, where secret rooms transformed into swanky bachelor pads, Salour created a cabinet that appears simple at first glance but reveals hidden secrets upon closer inspection.

One of the standout features of the Ciel Home Bar is the elevating liquor bottle platform. With the push of a button, a glass cover opens, and a motor raises the platform, revealing colorful liquor bottles in a jewel-like manner. The bar also includes a built-in dual zone wine cooler, capable of holding up to 20 bottles of wine, as well as a beverage glass cabinet with vertical sliding cases for up to 30 glasses of various shapes and sizes.

The design of the Ciel Home Bar is a nod to the classic American automotive design of the 60s and early 70s. The long and low bodywork of those cars and the stylish "bright work" inspired the sleek and modern shape of the bar. With a steel frame construction, red lacquered solid wood doors, high-gloss red lacquered MDF top and back, and chromed steel legs and door trim, the Ciel Home Bar is both visually striking and durable.

Measuring at 2726mm in width, 550mm in depth, and 677mm in height, the Ciel Home Bar offers ample storage space for liquor bottles, wine, beverage glasses, and other bar accessories. Its unique design and functionality set it apart from other home bars on the market.

The Ciel Home Bar project started in March 2011 and was completed in August 2012. Throughout the design process, Bahram Salour conducted extensive research to ensure that the bar was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally complete. He wanted to challenge the traditional rectangular shape of storage cabinets and create a design that was both beautiful and space-efficient.

The Ciel Home Bar has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2014. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

The Ciel Home Bar is a testament to Bahram Salour's talent and vision. With its hidden features, sleek design, and ample storage space, it is a must-have for anyone looking to add a touch of sophistication to their home bar.
