The inspiration for the Neoclassic Wellness project came from the concept of building re-use and the adaptation of traditional architectural styles to contemporary settings. The design team, led by Helen Brasinika, utilized IPE structural beams to support new walls, creating a 3D architectural identity that adapts to each space without complete uniformity.
One of the key features of this design is the use of materials that draw a distinctive line between the old and the new. Lavaplaster and quartz minerals dominate the interior, along with laminated formicas pressed on plywood, glass, and quartz mosaics. The color palette takes inspiration from the first morning hours, with warm shaded greys, hazy greens, and red greys, creating a tranquil and optimistic atmosphere.
The design team also paid attention to preserving the historic elements of the building. Antique oak wood parquet was used to restore damaged parts of the original flooring, while VOC-free water-based wood varnishes were applied. Opaque glass was chosen to reflect the environment, adding to the overall aesthetic.
The Neoclassic Wellness facility covers a total area of 700 square meters, including the original neoclassic building and a new extension specifically built to accommodate the wellness facilities. The project was assigned in December 2012 and delivered in September 2013.
One of the challenges faced by the design team was to remodel the neoclassic building without losing its typological identity. The goal was to incorporate the advanced technological corporate profile of the brand while respecting the historic importance of the building. The result is a harmonious blend of old and new, creating a unique and inviting space for wellness and relaxation.
The Neoclassic Wellness project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2014. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The project stood out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contribution to a better world.
With its seamless integration of old and new, the Neoclassic Wellness facility is a testament to the power of design in transforming spaces and creating unique experiences. Helen Brasinika and her team have successfully created a haven for wellness and spa, where history and modernity coexist in perfect harmony.
