Perkins: A Revolutionary Concept in Table Design

Diario's Perkins Tables: Merging Functionality and Aesthetics

Perkins, a set of side and coffee tables designed by Diario, introduces a unique concept inspired by the simplicity of a tray. With a blend of materials and a design that caters to modern lifestyles, these tables are not just functional furniture, but also a statement of style.

Diario, the design team behind Perkins, has brought a fresh perspective to table design. The inspiration for Perkins came from the concept of a tray, a simple yet functional object. The challenge was to translate this simplicity into a product with a greater aesthetic character. The result is a set of tables that are not only functional but also visually appealing.

The unique properties of Perkins lie in its shape and design. The tables are designed to support and hold, much like a tray. The combination of materials, including guatambu plywood, steel, and glass, creates a unique aesthetic that makes them adaptable to any environment. The glass surface reveals the content, adding an element of transparency to the design.

The tables are made of guatambu wood, steel, and glass. The legs are made of curved tube, and the main structure is made out of guatambu plywood. There are two models available, one measuring 40cm in diameter and 50cm in height, and the other measuring 50cm in diameter and 40cm in height.

Perkins is not just a table, but a functional piece of furniture that can be used for storage as well. It is suitable for the new lifestyles and small spaces where people live nowadays. The design is based on usage, making it a practical addition to any home or office.

The Perkins project started in April 2014 in Montevideo. The design team, Ana Sosa and Guillermo Salhón, faced challenges in the production stage, where it was necessary to adapt the design to materials and manufacturing possibilities. Despite these challenges, they were able to create a product that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.

The Perkins tables have been recognized for their innovative design, winning the Golden A' Furniture Design Award in 2015. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. It is a testament to Diario's commitment to advancing art, design, and technology.
