Ryan Xie recognized these shortcomings and set out to create a cable management solution that not only hides messy cables but also addresses the needs of consumers, retailers, and distributors.

The CordBox takes a fresh approach to cable management by considering the perspectives of consumers, retailers, and distributors. From a consumer standpoint, the CordBox is not meant to be hidden away but rather displayed proudly on a desk. Its sleek design features a metallic finish ABS plastic that exudes a sense of luxury. The box is wrapped in soft-touch faux leather, adding a touch of elegance while maintaining its durability.

Retailers face the challenge of limited merchandising space. The CordBox solves this problem with its collapsible design, allowing for easy installation and saving more than half of the retail merchandise space. Distributors also benefit from the CordBox's design, as it can be flat-packed, reducing shipping costs by allowing more boxes to be shipped in the same space.

The CordBox is made up of three different molds for its components. The three types of panels are made from fireproof grade ABS, ensuring temperature resistance and the ability to house power plug adapters. The panels are injection molded and finished with metallic spray and brushed aluminum lines, giving the CordBox a premium look that complements the leather wrapping.

With dimensions of 350 x 143 x 143 mm, the CordBox is designed to be easily accessible. Its top flip lid features a magnetic cover, providing convenient access to power strips. Assembling the CordBox is a breeze, requiring just three simple steps: fold the four joint panels, snap each end of the box with the side covers, and you're good to go.

The CordBox project began in January 2014 in Singapore and was completed in August 2014. It was showcased at the Berlin IFA 2014 exhibition, garnering attention for its innovative design and functionality. In recognition of its excellence, the CordBox was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and technical characteristics.
