Harrogate - The Diamond Bottle

Premium Appeal and Functionality Combined

Inspired by the classic architecture of Harrogate, the Harrogate - The Diamond Bottle has been designed to be memorable with premium appeal. The bottle’s diamond design disperses light to create an eye-catching, sparkling effect, guaranteeing stand out. The Diamond is a symbol of luxury and high quality, the same characteristics the brand Harrogate stands for. The clean, understated artwork and typography on the label supports the high-class appeal of the overall product.

This striking design has been implemented across the Harrogate Spring family, aiming to create a distinctive range of bottles with premium appeal that complements Harrogate’s classic branding. The diamond design not only creates an attractive cut-glass effect but also provides exceptional strength. The rigid lattice structure of the bottle combines beauty with functionality. Harrogate’s iconic palette of black, white, and silver, along with typography from Harrogate’s elegant heyday and subtle Far Eastern background patterns, inspired by the town's illustrious past, further enhance the overall aesthetic.

The Harrogate Spring bottle is made of PET and is blown, filled, and labeled using state-of-the-art machinery within its class, the Krones ErgoBloc. With an output of up to 36,000 bottles per hour, Harrogate is able to produce efficiently and sustainably. The bottle's ergonomics, including the opening and pouring, have been optimized with special grip features, ensuring excellent stability and handling while remaining lightweight. The combination of design and advanced technology results in a 'right-weighted' bottle that maintains its stability and durability.

The 500 ml bottle has specific geometric details, with an overall height of 217.5mm, a diameter of 64.5mm, and a label area of 41mm. The pinch diameter is 52mm. The weight range for the entire bottle family varies between 13.5g and 37.5g, with a neck finish of Bericap 1881.

One of the key challenges faced during the design process was creating a lightweight bottle while maintaining a premium appearance and stable handling. Additionally, the diamond structure on the bottle had to withstand the inner pressure of CO2, a natural content of spring water. Through the use of special geometrics, the diamond structure remains present and visible, even with high CO2 content.

The Harrogate - The Diamond Bottle project started in September 2013 in Neutraubling, Germany, and the last of the 14 bottles was finalized in February 2014. The complete line installation at Harrogate, UK, was completed in May 2014, followed by a commissioning phase and the start of production for the new bottle family.

The Harrogate - The Diamond Bottle has received recognition for its design excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2015, which recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The bottle's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world.
