The sunglasses feature a 1 GHz dual-core microprocessor, a 9-axis sensor suite, BLE, ANT+, and Wi-Fi communication protocols, all built into its hardware platform. With 8GB of memory, dedicated graphics, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3D gyroscope, compass, altimeter, pressure and temperature sensors, and an HD camera, these sunglasses offer a comprehensive suite of functionalities.

The operating system of Recon Jet is based on Android, providing an open SDK for developers to create third-party apps. This allows users to customize their experience and access a wide range of applications tailored to their specific needs.

When wearing the Recon Jet HUD sunglasses, the display is controlled by a precision optical touch-pad located at the front of the right module. This touch-pad supports multiple gestures and can be used in all weather conditions, with or without gloves. The display itself is positioned in the lower right corner of the user's field of vision, ensuring that it can be easily glanced at without blocking peripheral vision.

The Recon Jet HUD sunglasses were designed and developed in Vancouver, Canada, with the project starting in early 2012 and the product shipping in December 2014. The design team, led by Afshin Mehin Mehin, conducted extensive research and ergonomic testing to ensure the optimal placement of the display and the overall comfort and fit of the sunglasses.
