Bird: A Wearable Input Device

An Innovative and Holistic Design by Prime.total product design

Bird is an innovative wearable device that revolutionizes the way we interact with technology. Inspired by the movie Minority Report, this ring-like accessory, comfortably worn on the index finger, aggregates the entire spectrum of interactive methods into a single device.

Bird™ is not your ordinary wearable device. It transforms any room into a 3D interactive workspace, allowing users to interact with displayed images on any surface as if it were a touch screen. With accurate control and unparalleled sensitivity, Bird offers a unique and immersive experience.

One of the standout features of Bird is its ability to offer various interaction methods. From Remote Touch and Hovering to Depth Sensing and Gesture control, this wearable input device provides users with a range of options to interact with their digital environment. It even functions as a mouse, further expanding its versatility.

The design of Bird is minimalist and sleek, making it a stylish accessory that seamlessly integrates into any lifestyle. Made using injection molding technology, the thimble-like device measures 65mmX15mmX25mm, while the package dimensions are 130mmX50mmX135mm.

Operating Bird is simple and intuitive. Connect the sensor to your projector and use the auto calibration feature to set it up. Connect the dongle to your computer or laptop, put the thimble on your finger, and it turns on automatically. Use it as a remote mouse or touch the surface on which the projector shows the image. Between sessions, conveniently charge the thimble inside the cradle.

The Bird project was initiated in Israel in October 2013 and completed in February 2015. It gained recognition and was exhibited at the Bett show in London in January 2015. The design team behind Bird includes Omri Bar Ze'ev, Etay Amir, David Keller, Robi Gal, and Marion Lenne from Prime.total product design.

Bird has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2015. This award recognizes the exceptional expertise and innovation demonstrated by the design. Bird's technical characteristics, artistic skill, and ability to evoke positive emotions make it a truly remarkable and award-winning design.
