Huiqi Office

Interior Space Design by Wenzhi Space

The Huiqi Office is a small yet innovative space designed by Wenzhi Space to maximize the feeling of spaciousness and promote productivity. Inspired by Chinese landscape and the attention to detail found in Scarpa's work, this office showcases the art of space control and the power of perception.

The Huiqi Office stands out for its unique approach to space design. Despite its limited area, the office is divided into different sections, each with its own purpose. By dimming the limits between these sections and enhancing the penetrability of vision, the designers create an illusion of a larger space. This technique, derived from Chinese geomancy, guides the flow of energy and creates a harmonious environment.

One of the key features of the Huiqi Office is the strategic placement of the manager's office near the entrance and the meeting room at the innermost part of the space. This arrangement not only follows the principles of Chinese geomancy but also allows for a more efficient use of space. By disassembling the whole and emphasizing the details, the design guides actions and constructs different levels of space. This creates a brand new experience for users, enhancing their perception and overall satisfaction.

The realization of the Huiqi Office involved the use of various materials, including stoving varnish board, veneer, floor tile, volakas white marble, and cloth. These materials were carefully selected to enhance the visual depth and create a sense of unity within the space.

The Huiqi Office is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in transforming small spaces. By incorporating elements of Chinese geomancy and paying attention to every detail, Wenzhi Space has created an office that not only maximizes productivity but also provides a sense of comfort and spaciousness.

Wenzhi Liu, Liangcai Chan, Qijian Wong, Jianfang Leung, Jianhao Du, Weijian Lu, and Jiacheng Ho were the talented individuals who contributed to the realization of the Huiqi Office.

The Huiqi Office operates on several design principles. Firstly, the use of manual wooden veneer without ending lines creates a slight thickness in the wall modeling, ensuring visual integrity and simplicity. Secondly, the careful selection and arrangement of materials within the same color system enhance the visual depth of the space. Lastly, the combination of different finishes and materials, such as matt and glaze or real and virtual, avoids a cramped feeling in the small space.

The Huiqi Office project took three months to complete and is located in Jin Cheng Mansion, Dongfen east road, Guangzhou. The design team drew inspiration from Suzhou gardens, enriching the content of the small space and creating a theme of spaciousness and comfort.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was achieving a seamless blend of layer modeling within the space. The contrast intensity between color and texture also required careful consideration. The design of the meeting room's door and ceiling, which combine to create layers within the space, exemplifies the attention to detail and the mastery of contrast.

The Huiqi Office is a small yet visually captivating space. By utilizing the longest diagonal in the space as a key element of visual extension, the design creates a sense of depth with 4 to 5 layers. The careful consideration of depth, height, and positioning enhances the richness and integration of the space, fostering team development and cohesion among its occupants.

The Huiqi Office was photographed by Ken Wong in 2015.

This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. The award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Huiqi Office stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
