8 Pyramids: A Conceptually New Design in Constructivism Style

A Unique Table Design by Alexander Novichkov & Svetlana Novichkova

The table "8 pyramids" is a revolutionary design that combines art, architecture, and mathematics to create a visually stunning and functional piece of furniture. Inspired by the transformation of a cube into a ball, this table breaks free from traditional rectangular forms and introduces a new level of sophistication and ergonomics.

The table "8 pyramids" is a conceptually new design in the style of constructivism. It features a completely symmetrical structure with no top or bottom, resembling a space object. The strength and stability of the construction are ensured by a framework of eight-pointed stars, replacing the usual vertical legs of a table. This unique design not only provides a visually striking appearance but also improves ergonomics by freeing up space for the legs of those sitting at the table.

All parts of the table are manufactured using mechanical equipment and connected through threaded connections such as bolts and nuts. This eliminates the need for welding and allows for easy assembly. The steel parts of the table are polished or matte, coated with nickel-chrome, titanium nitride, or paint, adding to its aesthetic appeal.

The table "8 pyramids" has dimensions of 720mm x 720mm x 720mm, with a table top diameter of 1072mm. The parts of the support can be conveniently packaged and delivered to consumers, while the table top can be customized or made on-site. This flexibility allows for various configurations and sizes to suit different spaces and preferences.

Not only is the table "8 pyramids" a functional piece of furniture, but it also serves as a design statement. It seamlessly blends into minimalist and hi-tech interiors, becoming a dominant feature. It also complements mixed style and Art Deco interiors, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The development of the table "8 pyramids" took several years, with the first model created in 2004. The designer, Alexander Novichkov, drew inspiration from his knowledge of physics, geometry, and mathematics. The transformation of a cube into a ball, achieved through the precise joining of rings and edges of pyramids, was a breakthrough moment in the design process.

This innovative design faced its fair share of challenges. The designer's main objective was to create a radically new form, which required exploring numerous variations and technological possibilities. The final design achieved a harmonious balance between mathematically calibrated lines, polished metal parts, and the spatial structure of the object.

The table "8 pyramids" has garnered recognition in the design world, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The table's technical characteristics and aesthetic appeal have captivated audiences, evoking positive emotions and a sense of wonder.

With its unique blend of art, architecture, and mathematics, the table "8 pyramids" stands as a testament to the power of design to transform everyday objects into extraordinary works of art.
