What sets this book apart is its meticulous research and attention to detail. More than 6000 images were scanned to create a visual archive of Bulgarian primers and ABC books. The designer grid ensures equal presentation to each edition, while the four types of informational texts provide a comprehensive understanding of the historical context. The book also features collages using photo images from different periods, highlighting the social, cultural, and political changes that influenced the content of the primers.

The Bulgarian ABC Book History is not just a collection of illustrations; it is a visual interpretation of different historical periods, social collisions, times of war and peace, economic crises, and industrial progress. It delves into the everyday life, material culture, family relations, and attitudes towards child rearing, guidance, and education. Through the combination of illustrations, photographs, portraits, and short descriptions, readers can immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Bulgarian history.

The book itself is a work of art. Printed on 150 gsm offset paper, it offers a tactile sensation reminiscent of the old ABC books. The seven chapters, following a historical timeline, are divided by collages using scans of the fourth covers of the ABC books. These covers, originally left blank, now bear the marks of time and continuous use, symbolizing the passage of history. The cover of the book itself follows the same approach, creating a cohesive and visually striking design.

The Bulgarian ABC Book History is a testament to the dedication and passion of the design team. Led by Svoboda Tzekova, the team spent almost two years researching in libraries, museums, and private collections to gather the materials for this project. Their goal was to achieve a harmonious combination of visual and verbal information, creating a neutral design that allows readers to fully engage with the subject matter.
