Gu Teng's inspiration for the "Times/Peanut" design came from the original structure of the space. The store was a double-story building, which Teng integrated into one longitudinal space. The three-dimensional composition became the core design of this space, with graphic designs applied to create a sense of illusion and novelty. The result is a space that sparkles gloriously, showcasing a visual sense of illusion and novelty.
The uniqueness of this design lies in its transformation. The space was originally a double-story store, but after reconstruction, it was integrated into one whole longitudinal space. The three-dimensional composition is the core design of this space. By applying graphic designs onto a three-dimensional space, Teng has combined fun and art in a very dynamic way, showing a visual sense of illusion and novelty.
The realization of this design was made possible by integrating two levels into one entire space to improve its safety, comfortability, and service efficiency. Teng used emulsion paint and bare concrete, metal, glass, and epoxy resin self-leveling floor during the production period. The use of decoration and modern sense of technology helped to showcase the space.
The "Times/Peanut" design covers a total space of 620m2, with most furniture inside designed for the spaces. It includes a two-level high bookshelf, nine communication areas, and an office area located at the back of the lounge. The design is simple, artistic, rhythmical, fun, colorful, practical, and cost-effective.
The biggest challenge in realizing this design was understanding the needs of customers, time schedule, expected commercial purposes, as well as cost and budget. Despite the limited construction time, Teng managed to use the simplest construction method to present a different space perception.
The "Times/Peanut" design is a testament to Gu Teng's innovative approach to space design. It showcases how a simple store can be transformed into a dynamic, artistic, and functional space. This design not only earned Teng the prestigious Golden A' Design Award but also set a new standard in the field of interior space design.
