Cellula: A Symbolic Ceiling Lamp

A Unique Blend of Art and Technology

Inspired by the development of an embryo, the Cellula lamp features a special shape that resembles cell division, evoking a sense of motion and growth. This symbolic design invites users to contemplate the story of mankind's creation in a visually captivating way.

What sets the Cellula lamp apart is its use of blown glass and laser-cut plexiglass. The lamp incorporates a light tube inside, which illuminates the edges of the plexiglass, creating a mesmerizing flow of light. The overall surface of the plexiglass is sealed with a thin black layer, enhancing the brightness of the edges and adding a dreamy effect to the lamp.

Additionally, a halogen lamp is strategically placed below the Cellula lamp, providing soft illumination to the surrounding area, whether it be the floor or a table. This thoughtful design element ensures that the lamp not only serves as a beautiful centerpiece but also contributes to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The production process of the Cellula lamp involves blowing glass to create the bubble shape and laser-cutting plexiglass plates, which are then fixed in place using two holders. The careful craftsmanship and attention to detail result in a high-quality and visually striking final product.

Measuring 400mm in width, depth, and height, the Cellula lamp is a versatile lighting solution that can easily fit into various interior spaces, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was selecting the most suitable light tube to ensure optimal brightness through the plexiglass edges. The designers' dedication to finding the perfect balance between form and function paid off, resulting in a truly remarkable piece of art.

The Cellula lamp was created by a talented team, including Soroush Vahidian Kamyar, Nima Bavardi, Mohamad Afkhami, Mehrdad Zamani, and Mostafa Arvand. Their collaboration and expertise brought this innovative design to life.

With its captivating design, the Cellula lamp not only illuminates spaces but also sparks conversations and contemplation. Its unique blend of art, technology, and symbolism makes it a standout piece that adds a touch of sophistication to any interior.

Cellula was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2016. This prestigious accolade recognizes the lamp's outstanding creativity and ingenious design, which combines art, science, and technology to enhance the quality of life and create a better world.
