The Rebel is about finding the strength in your own reflection. Courageous enough to walk alone, but assertive enough to have found the right path. It's about knowing yourself, choosing your revolution, finding momentum and knowing when it's time to walk away.

The Rebel, designed by Johanna Jonsson Abchee, is not just an ordinary mirror. It is a mirror and art piece that reflects on your rebellious self. With its circular copper frame and copper tinted mirror, it intends to give a warm reflection to the self. The mirror is decorated with elegant arabesque patterns, forming tattoos that speak of your courageous path.

The Rebel is a result of careful craftsmanship and innovative design. Initially, the design was sunblasted on the glass mirror, but this limited the result to a thicker, less refined design with limited use of color. To overcome these obstacles, the designer traced the lines from behind the mirror, resulting in a more refined and intricate design.

The technical specifications of The Rebel include a circular copper frame protected with lacquer finishing, a copper tinted mirror, and a dark brown painted mirror carving within. The mirror is 900mm in diameter, 20mm deep, and has a 2mm thickness. Despite its size, it weighs only 7kg. The design also incorporates sustainable practices, as the copper back circular piece is cut out and reused to create another frame.

The interaction with The Rebel is a unique experience. The pink copper tone of the steel frame and glass mirror gives a subtle image, with only the arabesque design standing out and telling a story. The trace of the design may remind you of something in your own reflection or make you imagine the artist's journey. The pink tint is meant to provide a kinder, less harsh image of yourself. The Rebel comes in different tints and patterns, allowing for a dynamic interaction with the self and its surroundings.

The Rebel is part of a collection that started in 2014 for Les Galeries Lafayette in Dubai. The Pink Arabesque design was prepared for a solo exhibition at La Serre Dubai from January 26 to May 25, 2016. It is a design that reflects on the roots, individuality, and the authentic journey in life.

The Rebel has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2016. This award is given to designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
